While the use of popular and expanded media to communicate design is currently in vogue it is certainly not a new idea. Consider English country gardens as the inspiration for earthworks, circuses as performance arenas. What is new is the attitudes that lie in the use of the form: a politicization of materials; using it against itself in order to both neutralize and transform.
The effects are subtle and subliminal, if effective they are not seen but felt.
